Situational Analysis

Porter Emergency Medical Services is committed to developing impactful public relations campaigns and fundraising events for numerous groups and entities residing within Porter County, Indiana. For example, Porter Emergency Medical Services donated a decommissioned ambulance to a local not-for-profit Porter County Search and Rescue (SAR), an all-volunteer group made up of local fire and EMS personnel that supports local law enforcement in search and rescue missions.

Goals

Porter Emergency Services helped stuff thousands of prize eggs that were included in Porter County’s largest Easter egg hunt. This event also included photos with the Easter Bunny, table visits with various characters, live music, a petting zoo, craft projects, face painting, and a bounce house. All proceeds from the event benefited the Salvation Army, raising $12,000 for them.

Planning & Implementation

Porter Emergency Services sponsored a one-day EMS Conference for emergency responders throughout the state of Indiana. This day, along with numerous other events throughout the year, raised $5,000, all of which was donated to a local charity, 500 Turkeys, a not-for-profit organization that feeds constituents of Porter County year round. This charity also provides complete Thanksgiving Day meals to those in need. Porter Emergency Medical Services, along with Porter Regional Hospital, donates hundreds of turkeys for this great cause.

Results

Porter Emergency Medical Services is continuing the efforts of donating to worthy causes. At present, a raffle for a seven-day resort stay of your choice nationally or internationally is undergoing. When all is said and done, proceeds of approximately $5,000 will be donated to the American Heart Association. Additionally, in November, Porter EMS will host the second annual Turkey Bowl and chili cook-off. All proceeds from this event will be donated to 500 Turkeys.

Impact

These events couldn’t have taken place without the support of the entire Porter Emergency Medical Services team and all feedback received has been very positive. Analysis showed that the goals for each event were met and or exceeded due to the vast amounts of time and effort put forth by all of the members of the department.

These efforts have tremendous positive impact on the recipients of the donations, which in turn inspires the continued participation of department members as they see their impact throughout Porter County’s communities.
