Center for Patient Safety

The Center for Patient Safety (CPS), established in 2005, is an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to its mission of reducing preventable patient harm. At CPS, we focus on learning where care may be unsafe and how to prevent patient harm. We emphasize the importance of culture in promoting safe systems of care. CPS began working with EMS in 2010 at the request of Missouri’s providers, and that work has expanded exponentially across the US in the years since. Offerings include:

  • The only EMS-focused Patient Safety Organization certified by AHRQ.
  • The only validated EMS patient safety culture survey.
  • Extensive staff experience with EMS, including MIH.
  • Dedicated patient safety culture solutions for EMS
