A recent study has shown that EMS and EMS leadership is not perceived as welcoming to women as it is men. As a result, our profession fails to be inclusive of all individuals and continues to struggle with the recruitment and retention of our workforce. There are many historical, social, and institutional reasons for the disparity for which the best solutions are not always clear. Many DEI initiatives focus on the problems rather than potential solutions and fail to realize that implementing meaningful change is more like learning a language than simply adopting a program. During this session we will offer key action items that you and your team can implement to be more intentional with inclusion and to level the opportunity for all members of the team.
