Ambulance Services at a Crossroads: Coverage Shifts, Medicaid Changes, and Revenue Implications

April 20, 2026
3:00 pm –
3:50 pm
Meeting Room 109-110
Tracks: Hot Topics

In the years ahead ambulance providers are likely to face increases in the number of uninsured patients they serve and tightening state budgets due to changes in state directed payments. Both of these factors may impact provider revenue, but this will vary by state. Panelists will discuss projected levels of the uninsured by state, changes to Medicaid state directed payment and provider tax rules, the associated revenue challenges providers will face, and the strategies policymakers are taking to provide coverage options for the newly uninsured and address Medicaid payment changes resulting from HR 1.
