Dr. Rawlins is an Assistant Professor and the Kinesiology Program Coordinator at Delaware State University, where the diverse and vibrant student body includes students from 41 states and 15 countries.
Dr. Rawlins’ central research interest is empowering underrepresented communities, with a focus on creating a diverse workforce. Most importantly, he believes that community programming and services must include representation in leadership positions that reflect the population served.
Prior to joining Sellers Dorsey, Alexa was the Head of Vertical Expansion at Filevine, where she supervised a team of project managers. In this role, she worked with over 100 clients on product reach to new markets. Before working at Filevine, Alexa was a Senior Project Manager at Punk Ave, where she managed digital product implementations for Ivy League institutions, luxury e-commerce retailers, and design firms. Alexa also worked at Finity as a Senior Project Manager, where she oversaw various health care related projects.
Allison began her career in EMS in 2012 while completing her Master’s Degree in Public Health. Since then, she has dedicated her energy to innovation in the field of EMS through continuous quality improvement and research efforts. During the pandemic, she earned her EMT and a graduate certificate in Public Policy. She currently serves as the Performance Improvement Manager at Mecklenburg EMS Agency, where she and her team support the Agency’s clinical performance and deployment, quality improvement, and strategic planning.
Adam Kuhs, Deputy Director of Operations for Bell Ambulance has been a licensed EMT/AEMT for nearly 17 years. New to speaking on a larger stage, Adam regularly speaks at various schools around the Milwaukee Metro area highlighting a career in EMS. Adams goal is to show how EMS can open your world to many different opportunities. Adam’s career started with Bell spending eight years in the field prior to entering management. Adam is part of a leadership team that has devoted years to reimagining how they get people in the door and consider making EMS their career.
Stephen Stephens is the CEO and paramedic for Uvalde Emergency Medical Services. Stephen began his career in 1985 as a volunteer EMT and worked for several different EMS agencies before landing in Uvalde in 2002. Stephen currently serves as the President for the Texas Ambulance Association, as well as, serving on the TAA Legislative and Education committee. Stephen was awarded the Texas Ambulance Association Joe B. Brown Memorial Award in 2023. Stephen has also served on various local and Texas EMS committees during his career. As an advocate for EMS, Stephen has been involved in efforts to improve reimbursements for EMS providers during Texas Legislative sessions. Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and spoiling his grandkids, spending time on the gulf coast, and fishing. During the fall many hours are spent traveling to Texas Tech Red Raider football games
Diahan Underwood oversees compliance programs for all of Priority Ambulance’s family of companies and evaluates compliance issues and concerns. Underwood is a Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO) through the National Academy of Ambulance Compliance.
Prior to joining Priority Ambulance, Underwood worked at Central EMS, a member of the Priority Ambulance family of companies located in Roswell, Georgia, as director of nursing and critical care services and chief flight nurse for Central Air Ambulance from 2010 to 2017. Underwood has more than 20 years of experience in EMS and critical care nursing.
Underwood received her EMT certification from North Metro Technical College in 1991. While working as an EMT, her love for helping people and advancing in the field of medicine led her to pursue her degree as a registered nurse from Clayton State College in 1997. Before joining Central EMS, she gained experience at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, Scottish Rite, Northside Hospital-Cherokee, West Georgia Medical Center, Cherokee EMS and Troup County EMS.
Underwood is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Trauma Life Support, Prehospital Trauma Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support, Perianesthesia, Basic Firefighter II and FEMA and Hazmat Courses. She is an instructor in Pediatric Emergency Awareness Recognition (PEAR), BLS/ACLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, ITLS, PHTLS, Child Passenger Car Seat Technician, SAFE Kids Safety Program and the Infectious Disease Transport Network.
Underwood is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Foundation and serves on the Georgia State Medical Assessment Team Advisory Board.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of South Carolina, Grace began a 10-year career in the government arena with the State of South Carolina, during which her experience included brand development and reputation building through various platforms. Now the Public Relations Manager for Mecklenburg EMS Agency in Charlotte, NC, for the past five years Grace has been responsible for strategizing and executing all external and internal communications for the agency.
Angela Sereda is the Senior Manager of Mobile Integrated Health and an Advanced Care Paramedic/Community Paramedic with Medavie Health Services West. She has been in the emergency medical services industry for 30 years. She is currently responsible for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of comprehensive programs related to existing, novel, and integrated clinical programs through collaboration with internal and external health care. In addition, Angela actively delivers frontline care to many clients on a regular basis through the Community Paramedic Program in Moose Jaw, an innovative model of care within Mental Health and Social Detox. Angela sits on numerous local and professional boards, including being the Chair for Heartland Hospice Moose Jaw and was one of the co-creators and facilitators of the Tru-Unity Girls Leadership Group. She has been the recipient of many community and leadership awards, including the Governor General of Canada EMS Exemplary Service Medal, Moose Jaw’s Citizen of the Year, Businesswomen of Moose Jaw PRISM Role-Model Award and the Moose Jaw Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year.
Joanne Piccininni, EdD, NRP, MICP is the Paramedic Science Program Director and Assistant Professor at Bergen Community College in Lyndhurst New Jersey. She is a practicing Paramedic in northern New Jersey, a member of NAEMT, NAEMSP, a member and mentor for Women in Emergency Services (WiES) and passionate about EMS education. Joanne has served as an instructor and Affi liate Faculty for NAEMT education programs, is the NAEMT Education Coordinator for New Jersey, and a 2023 recipient of the NAEMT Presidential Leadership Award. She is a content author for several NAEMT courses including PHTLS 10e and GEMS. She also serves as a mentor for WiES and a charter member of the New Jersey Chapter. Joanne serves as a member of the NAEMT Education Committee and the chair of the PHT Committee. She completed a doctorate in education (EdD) through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, completed a BA in Political Science from Montclair State University, and an MBA from Columbia Southern University.
Alison Crawford has been a Diversity & Inclusion Facilitator since 2010, specializing in gender identity, sexual orientation, race, and socioeconomic diversity. Her clients have included all major verticals within tech, retail, banking, and food & beverage. She has been in EMS for the last five years as an EMT and has been able to utilize her experience in Diversity & Inclusion to better serve the diverse community of Solano County. Alison is also the California chapter lead within Women in Emergency Services, based in San Francisco, and will graduate with her Paramedic license from UC Davis in March 2025.
Jonnathan Busko MD, MPH, MBA, FACEP
Jonnathan Busko is a board-certified Emergency Medicine and EMS physician with over 30 years of experience in medicine. He worked as a paramedic in rural Ohio, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania and was a FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Medical Specialist. Jonnathan received MD and MPH degrees from the University of Pittsburgh, an MBA from the University of Maine, a graduate certificate in Community Preparedness and Emergency Management from the University of North Carolina, and completed a Rural Health Fellowship with the National Rural Health Association. He completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical Center and an EMS / Disaster Fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center. Jonnathan was the Maine EMS Region 4 medical director for 12 years and is now the hospital representative to the Maine EMS Community Paramedicine Subcommittee and the medium-sized hospital representative to the Trauma Advisory Committee. He was the St. Joseph Hospital ED Medical Director for 5 years and is now the Medical Director of Care Delivery Transformation. He is the lead consultant for the “Critical Access Physician Extender” project, a shared workforce physician extension telemedicine pilot project that provides advanced practice paramedic facilitated tele-urgent care services in Jackman, Maine. Jonnathan is also the Technical Rescue Czar for the Veazie Fire Department, Director of Lift Evacuation and Technical Rescue for the Hermon Mountain Ski Patrol, and the Medical Director for North East Mobile Health Services and the Hudson Fire Department.
Rick has worked in the EMS system in Maine for 42 years as a Paramedic, Firefighter, Educator, and Administrator. He is currently employed as the Chief Operations Officer for North East Mobile Health and the Program Director for the Jackman Physician Extender Program. Previously, Rick was employed as the Executive Director of Atlantic Partners EMS, the Regional EMS Administrative office serving the EMS agencies and hospitals in four of Maine’s six EMS regions. He is currently the Chair of the Maine Trauma Advisory Committee and the Maine Interfacility Transport Committee and is a site reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services.
Henry Lewis began his career in emergency services with a small, volunteer fire department in South Carolina in 1999. He quickly transitioned to the local EMS agency and gained his paramedic license in 2003, which he still maintains. As a career EMS professional, Henry has worked across all aspects of EMS to include governmental, private industry, hospital-based services, and EMS education. He served as the State EMS Coordinator for the state EMS office and in administration for the state’s largest 911 provider before transitioning to become the South Carolina EMS Association’s first Executive Director in 2021. As a working student, Henry earned his BA in Emergency Management and Masters in Healthcare Administration from Columbia College with honors.
Chris Lake has been Deputy Director of Fire and EMS Response System Development for the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) since 2021, previously serving as Fire-Based EMS Specialist since April 2020. Prior to starting his career with the IAFF, Chris retired as a Captain/Paramedic after a 23-year career with the City of Lansing, MI. Fire Department. Chris served in every elected position of Lansing Fire Fighters IAFF Local 421 including President. Chris also served as an IAFF Service Representative, District Field Service Representative, and the eighth district representative on the IAFF EMS Standing Committee.
